CHAMP RIP Poor boy.. You will be missed dearly.. Always in our hearts.
20 yr old Appaloosa Gelding
15.1 hands tall - broke to saddle.
Champ was originally rescued from a neglected home. His previous owner rescued him along with another horse in August 2014.We were told he was 16 years old he does have cataracts in both eyes but healthy other wise. We've been told from others that he was broke and in shows.
Champ's previous owner was no longer to take care of him and turned him over to Morning Star Acres to help him. Champ was ridden by her young children. She stated that when she rode him slow is his speed and very content with that and I had him on a bit less bridle had his teeth floated in September and he was last dewormed March 2015. Doesn't like water on his rear to much .He has figured out were everything is and gets along very well its nice to see him play around.
***Champ has arrived at Morning Star Acres after staying in a foster home until we were ready for him. He is an extremely affectionate horse and is not easily spooked and very mellow and loves attention. We will have him assessed by a veterinarian regarding his cataracts. At this time he finds his way around fine..but we do want to have his eyes looked at..**** So presently he is in our previous paddock called the "Pony Palace with safe fencing so he can make his way around. He is able to see the other horses and is doing a great job of settling in.***
UPDATE: Recurrent uveitis and cataracts. Treatment given for 14 days and Champ successfully is not in anymore pain. His eye has healed. He still has limited vision and has put on good weight. Now to assess him under saddle****
UPDATE: NO issues or repeat attacks on Champs eyes. He has gained a lot of weight which I might ask looks great on him. He has his companion with him and he is happy as he will ever be. He is broke to saddle and we use him for beginner lessons at a walk.
Be watching here for updates on Cherry as she continues her rehab with us....
Onyx came to us due to personal changes to her owner. She is a cross gaited breed and loves to perform under saddle.
Onyx was originally rescued from the USA out of a kill pen where she could of been destined for meat/slaughter.
Onyx was well cared for by her previous owners. She will remain here as a permanent resident to be a lesson horse for our youth program.
Onyx is also gated and performs well under saddle.
